Hello everyone,
over the past weeks especially since Christmas things around TERA Awakening have been noticeably quieter. Many of you have probably been wondering what has been happening behind the scenes and why there have been fewer updates or announcements.
The reason is actually a positive one: while things seemed quiet on the outside, a lot of work has been happening in the background.
Our team used this time to prepare larger structural changes. Many systems have been reworked, content has been reorganized, and numerous gameplay elements have been adjusted to make TERA Awakening more stable, fair, and engaging in the long term.
A significant portion of this work is not directly visible to players things like database adjustments, balancing changes, technical groundwork, and internal testing. These kinds of tasks require time before they can be safely released.
We understand that communication is very important for any community. Looking back, we could certainly have shared more small updates during this phase, and we apologize for the silence.
However, our main focus during the past months was to complete the work properly instead of sharing unfinished information.
Today we would like to give you an overview of what has been prepared and what you can expect with the upcoming patch.

New Content
With the upcoming update several gameplay changes and additions will be introduced:
- New gear
- New jewelry
- New costumes
- the card system has been disabled.
Class adjustments:
- All classes have received balance adjustments.
- Physical and magical damage has been removed.
- The Berserker tank role has been reworked
- Valkyrie can now also be played as a tank.
Partners and Companions
Partners remain part of the game but have received some adjustments.
They still function mostly the same as before. One small change affects the loot system: standard Auto-Loot now also collects gold, making the Auto-Gold-Loot skill unnecessary.
Companions received more significant adjustments. The previously known Power and Amplification buffs have been removed. Companion buffs now only grant +10 HP, meaning they no longer have any impact on player damage.
As a result, companions lose their former pay-to-win characteristics and are now mainly cosmetic or utility-focused.
They still keep their special abilities such as crafting bonuses or Auto-Use-Potion functionality.
Both partners and companions can still be obtained through the Tikat Shop or through events.
The well-known quest in Highwatch, where players can obtain their first companion, is still available in the game.
Open World Events
Guardian Missions
Guardian Missions are an open world activity where players complete different objectives such as defeating monsters and bosses, escort missions, flying missions, or small mini-games.
By participating, players receive Guardian Mission points and reward boxes.
These boxes may contain:
- Rubies
- Sapphires
- Emeralds
- Diamonds
- and rarely costumes.
The daily limit has been adjusted:
- Retail: 40 boxes per character
- Awakening: 100 boxes per account per day
Dark Rift
Dark Rift is our version of the well-known Dreamstorm / Nexus event.
The event will be announced server-wide and will begin shortly afterward. Dark Rift is currently balanced for around 20 players.
Possible rewards include tokens, multi-nostrums, and mounts of tier 1.5 and 2.0.
Token Overview
Luna's Tokens are primarily obtained through dungeons, Vanguard Requests, Guardian Missions, and solo content.
They can be used to purchase various combat supplies, gear progression items, etchings, and shape changers.
Hera's Tokens are obtained from High and Top dungeons as well as their Vanguard rewards.
They include combat supplies and items such as:
Slaying Talismans
Battered Oath Tokens
Accessory Amplifiers
Dyad Crystals
Hera’s Wardrobe Tokens are used for innerwear loot boxes and can be obtained from Luna Tokens at a 10:1 ratio.
Mighty Rune Stone Tokens are used to purchase mounts and can be obtained through Vanguards, Civil Unrest, World Bosses, and Guild Rally.
Leveling Changes
The starting experience in Awakening has been adjusted.
Players now start directly at level 65. This means all early leveling quests are skipped, allowing players to jump straight into dungeon content. The Awakening questline is automatically completed.
All dungeons are accessible starting at level 65, and the remaining experience required for progression is obtained through dungeon completions and Space-Time Essences.
For players who have already started leveling:
A new skill interface is available where players can use the Level 65 Role, allowing them to immediately reach the same progression level.
Skill Advancement
has also been adjusted and reduced to one level.
Language Changes
With the upcoming patch, TERA Awakening will currently support English only.
This change was necessary due to larger technical adjustments to the game data. In order to maintain faster and more stable development for future updates, we are currently focusing on a single language base.
This does not mean that other languages are permanently removed.
We would greatly appreciate help from the community for future translations. If you are interested in helping with localization and supporting the development of TERA Awakening, feel free to contact us through the forum or our Discord.
Forum Restructuring
Due to the current large-scale adjustments, the forum has also been reorganized.
A large portion of older topics has been moved to the archive to allow a clean and structured separation starting with the next patch.
This will make it easier to separate new information, guides, and discussions going forward.
Important Information for the Upcoming Update
With the next update, a larger item database cleanup will take place.
Approximately 4000 items will be removed from the game.
Please make sure to open all bags and item boxes before the patch.
The following will remain:
- Costumes
- Gold
- Gems
- Cosmetic items
- Partners / Companions
- Emotes
- 2.0 Rune Stones
All other boxes, tokens, medals, and event items will not carry over.
Thank you for your patience and your continued support.
We are excited to take the next step for TERA Awakening together with you.
