DINPUT8.dll missing / Can't start Tera calssic

    Hi,

    I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 21H2
    OS Build 19044.6456


    I've registered and downloaded the game from the site (Tera Classic).

    Launcher works fine (it updated itself first), it updated the game but when I click "Launch Game" a window pops up with an error:

    "WinLicence: Cannot find 'DINPUT8.dll'. Please, re-install this application."

    I tried so far (and restarted the PC after every step):

    1) Check & Repair files option from Launcher

    2) Deleted DINPUT8.dll from the games Binaries folder to force the Launcher to re-download

    3) Downloaded and installed the latest version of the Direct X End User Runtime

    4) Opened C:\Windows\System32 to make sure DINPUT8.dll is there too and registered it again form elevated command prompt with

    regsvr32 /u dinput8.dll
    regsvr32 dinput8.dll

    5) Ran the game in Compatibility mode with admin rights

    Nothing has worked so far. :( Does anyone have any advice how to fix this?

    I had played Tera on the official server and other private servers without any problems on this system.

    I'd guess that you maybe forgot to install DirectX on your PC ?
    Not sure if Windows 11 or 10 had the problem but one of the OS has an issue with the different versions of directX so you might want to downgrade a version in case you have it installed and it still doesn't work.

    I managed to get into starting screen. :)

    I replaced dinput8.dll in Binaries folder with the newer one I downloaded from an online repository but ofc the Launcher immediately deleted it and downloaded the original again.

    So I left the Launcher open and then replaced dinput8.dll file and it worked, the game launched.

    So it's definitely something wrong with the dinput8.dll file that comes with the installation of the game. :!:

    But now I'm stuck in the starting screen, I can set Options and see Credits fine.

    But when I choose server Yurian (I tried them all) the list just blinks and nothing happens. ;(

    Hello, the dinput8.dll used by the server is not the default DirectX dll. It is a modified dll that interacts with the game client to provide security. It may also be flagged for false positives, so you need to set an exception with your external antivirus if you are using one. The windows defender exception should be set by the launcher automatically, but it may also help to set it yourself if that failed. The game will definitely not connect with a default dinput8.dll downloaded off the web, which is what you experienced.

    Other than that, logging in and back out of the launcher may also fix the issue of not being able to pass server select.

    AV can't be the problem bc Windows Defender is the first thing I completely disable on a fresh OS install and I don't have installed third party AV. The only thing I use is portable AV that only does manual scanning on user demand. Any file I download I manually scan but nothing is automatically scanned and flagged.

    I can't log in and out of the Launcher bc it immediately re-downloads custom dinput8.dll and I can't run the game with that.

    I tried client from other server and it just works so it's not problem on my end.

    I'd prefer EU server and Classic TERA but this client doesn't seam to like me ?(
