over the past few days, we have been pleasantly surprised by something truly special:
an unexpectedly large influx of new players joining TERA Classic.

Your overwhelming interest once again shows that TERA – whether Awakening or Classic – is very much alive and continues to attract players. For this, we would like to sincerely thank all of you.

What happened?

Due to the strong increase in new players, our download servers handled more than 50 TB of traffic within just 48 hours.
Unfortunately, this exceeded the current traffic limits, resulting in a temporary limitation imposed by our download provider.

Current impact

• The launcher may currently respond significantly slower
• Downloads can take noticeably longer than usual
• In some cases, interruptions may occur

We fully understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you just want to jump into the game. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Our solution

We reacted immediately:

• A third download server will be activated
• Planned timeframe: starting next week (around December 24)
• Significantly increased capacity and stability for all players

This should quickly stabilize the situation and allow the launcher to perform as expected again.

Euer enormes Interesse zeigt uns einmal mehr, dass TERA – egal ob Awakening oder Classic – nach wie vor lebt und begeistert. Dafür möchten wir uns ganz herzlich bei euch bedanken.

Was ist passiert?

Durch den starken Zuwachs an neuen Spielern kam es innerhalb von nur 48 Stunden zu über 50 TB Traffic auf unseren Download-Servern.
Diese Menge hat leider die aktuellen Traffic-Limits überschritten, wodurch unser Download-Anbieter uns temporär limitiert hat.

Aktuelle Auswirkungen

• Der Launcher kann derzeit deutlich langsamer reagieren
• Downloads benötigen teilweise spürbar länger
• In Einzelfällen kann es zu Unterbrechungen kommen

Uns ist bewusst, dass das frustrierend sein kann – gerade dann, wenn man einfach nur spielen möchte. Dafür möchten wir uns ausdrücklich entschuldigen.

Unsere Lösung

Wir haben natürlich direkt reagiert:

• Ein dritter Download-Server wird zugeschaltet
• Geplanter Zeitraum: ab nächster Woche (ca. 24.12.)
• Deutlich mehr Kapazität und Stabilität für alle Spieler

Damit sollte sich die Situation zeitnah entspannen und der Launcher wieder wie gewohnt performant arbeiten.

1. Neue Login-Optionen

Ab sofort könnt ihr euch nicht nur mit dem klassischen Foren-Login anmelden, sondern auch mit Steam oder GitHub.

• Für bestehende Accounts könnt ihr euer Steam-Profil nachträglich verknüpfen. Dazu einfach ins Profil gehen → Einstellungen und Privatsphäre → Verwaltung → Steam.
• Eine nachträgliche Verknüpfung von GitHub ist leider nicht möglich. Wenn ihr GitHub nutzen wollt, müsst ihr euch direkt mit dieser Option registrieren.

2. Verpflichtende Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung (2FA)

Sicherheit steht für uns an oberster Stelle. Deshalb wird bis Ende dieses Jahres die Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung (2FA) für alle Benutzer verpflichtend eingeführt.
Mit 2FA reicht das Passwort allein nicht mehr aus. Ihr müsst zusätzlich einen zweiten Sicherheitsfaktor – zum Beispiel einen Code aus einer Authenticator-App – eingeben. Damit wird euer Account zuverlässig vor unbefugtem Zugriff geschützt.
Wir empfehlen euch, euch schon jetzt mit der Einrichtung vertraut zu machen. Eine ausführliche Anleitung stellen wir rechtzeitig im Forum bereit.

3. Neues Design für Crazy-eSports

Parallel zu diesen technischen Neuerungen arbeiten wir intensiv an einem neuen Design für unsere Webseite. Das Ziel ist ein moderner, klarer und aufgeräumter Auftritt, der unsere Community und Projekte noch besser widerspiegelt.

From now on, you can sign in not only with the traditional forum login, but also via Steam or GitHub.

• For existing accounts, you can link your Steam profile afterwards by going to Profile → Settings & Privacy → Management → Steam.
• Please note: a post-linking with GitHub is unfortunately not possible. If you want to use GitHub login, you need to register directly with it.

2. Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Security is one of our top priorities. Therefore, by the end of this year, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) will become mandatory for all users.
With 2FA, your password alone will no longer be sufficient. You will need to verify your login with a second factor – for example, a code from an authenticator app. This ensures much stronger protection against unauthorized access.
We recommend getting familiar with the setup early. A detailed step-by-step guide will be provided on the forum in due time.

3. New Crazy-eSports Website Design

Alongside these technical improvements, we are also working on a brand-new design for our website. The goal is a modern, clear and engaging look that better represents our community and projects.
