🚨 Launcher Update — Action Required

A new launcher is required to play.

What’s changing

  • Mandatory launcher: All players must use the new launcher.
  • Temporary Defender step (automatic & safe): The launcher will create a Windows Defender exclusion for your TERA folder only (e.g. C:\TERA\) to avoid false positives during the transition. You can review/remove it anytime in Windows Security.
  • Code-signing incoming: We plan to sign the launcher with a code-signing certificate next week. Once signed, Windows will show a verified publisher and SmartScreen/Defender prompts should decrease.
  • Smoother game start: Improved process handling so the launcher opens the game more reliably (fewer stuck starts / window focus issues).

Technical note for modders

  • The launcher exposes a subscriber stream on port 7802 with packets.
    This can be used by external tools/mods at your own risk. This interface may change without notice.

  • TERA Shop is back.

🧩 Shinra

  • Shinra integration is in the works. No ETA yet; updates will follow.

🛡️ Security

  • Backend hardening and additional checks rolled out. Expect fewer false positives and tighter integrity verification.

⚡ Latency

  • Netcode and gateway tuning deployed. Needs testing

🧰 Toolbox Status

  • Toolbox is not compatible with this build. A fix is being investigated; no ETA right now.
    If Toolbox cannot be restored quickly, we may integrate key QoL features directly into the launcher.

❓ Quick FAQ

  • Q: Game stuck on “Fate of Arun” / server list not loading.
    A: Log out in the launcher, then log back in.
  • Q: Can’t select a server after returning to the server screen.
    A: Fully restart the game client.
  • Q: Toolbox errors at launch.
    A: Toolbox is not supported in the current build.

🔍 Transparency & Safety

  • Scope: The Defender exclusion applies only to your TERA install folder.
  • Control: You can view, change, or remove it anytime (note: removing it may prevent the game from launching until we complete code-signing).

How to review/remove the Defender exclusion (Windows 10/11)

  1. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection
  2. Click Manage settings under Virus & threat protection settings
  3. Scroll to Exclusions → Add or remove exclusions
  4. View, edit, or remove the TERA folder exclusion
